Groups

Not available right now: Groups are parked for a later rollout. Existing deep links may still work, but Groups are not shown in the app or docs navigation. For a one-way creator feed today, use Channels. The complete guide is preserved below for the feature's return.

Groups are Announcr-native membership circles: one-way spoken announcements from owners and admins today. Members only listen — there is no chat or reply thread yet (member posts may come later).

If you want a creator content feed (podcasters, KOLs, short voice drops), use a Channel instead.

Open Groups for groups you belong to, or Discover for public groups and channels.

How groups work

  • One-way audio — owners/admins broadcast; members hear live (missed posts stay in Messages)
  • Forced voice pack — every announcement in a group uses that group's chosen speaking style
  • Group icon — optional image for the group (hub, directory, and broadcasts); initials if none is set
  • Visibility
    • Private — invite only
    • Unlisted — anyone with the link can join (not listed in Discover)
    • Public — appears in Discover; searchable by name and tags
  • Tags — thematic labels (crypto, trading, content, audience, lifestyle, mature). Admins define the catalog; group owners pick a few for the directory
  • Sample announcement — many groups offer Listen to sample on the invite card and directory so you can hear the voice before joining

Join a group

  1. Open an invite link (/i/… or /c/join/…), or find a public group under Discover.
  2. Optionally listen to the sample.
  3. Sign in if needed.
  4. Join free, pay to join (allowlisted SPL token via your Solana wallet), or meet a min-balance holding requirement if the group sets one.
  • Payment goes to platform escrow (not straight to the owner's wallet at join time).
  • There are no refunds if you leave or are banned later.
  • A small platform fee may be included in the join price (shown before you pay).

Min-balance gate

Some groups require your linked wallet to hold a minimum amount of a token. That is separate from paid join. Holdings are rechecked about daily; if you drop below the threshold you may be removed (owners/admins are exempt from removal on that check).

After you join

  • Keep Announcr open with spoken alerts unlocked to hear live broadcasts.
  • Open the group from Groups for the group dashboard.
  • React to broadcasts with an emoji (when the owner's plan enables it): the room sees a shared count and the owner sees who reacted — no new announcement is spoken. See Emoji reactions.
  • You can leave anytime (paid join is still non-refundable).

Delayed messages and broadcasts

When someone sends you a personal message or a group broadcast, they may schedule it (5 minutes up to 48 hours). Speech is prepared when they schedule; you hear it when the send time arrives.
